Froze the tofu first (in the package), then thawed it, squeezed the excess liquid out, broke it into chunks, and coated each piece in corn flour (corn starch) before shallow frying in sunflower oil at medium heat until the pieces were golden and crispy on all sides. then i cranked the heat up to medium high so the sauce would boil and thick right away once i added it. i’ll include the recipe for the sauce below so you can try it yourself! 😘

GINGER GARLIC SAUCE:
3 tbsp maple syrup
3 tbsp tamari (use 2 tbsp if you prefer less salty)
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp toasted sesame oil
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
2-3 cloves garlic, grated or minced
1/4 cup water
cornstarch slurry (1 tbsp cornstarch mixed separately with 1 tbsp of water and then added to sauce)
